Mickey Asche
Mickey Asche, born in Louisville Kentucky in 1963, moved as a teenager to South Louisiana. He was drawn to the vast number of bayous and swamps in the area, attempting to “draw” the abundant wildlife. Following in his father’s footsteps, he worked as an aviation mechanic for twenty years. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which took his home, he suffered an immobilizing knee injury prompting him to begin painting. He taught himself watercolor and soon moved to oils. At he age of forty-two, he gave up his career in the oil industry, and followed his dream. A saying he lives by, “Jump off a cliff and build your wings on the way down”, has allowed him to soar, competing with the top national wildlife artists.
